2018-May 12th - 9 a.m. 7th ANNUAL GREAT ALLEGHENY PASSAGE 5k/10k RUN AND 2 MILE FUN WALK

The Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter of the Regional Trail Corporation will hold its 7th Annual 5k/10k Run and 2 Mile Fun Walk on Saturday May 12th, 2018. 


SPONSORED BY WEST NEWTON FOX’S PIZZA.     

This event is a major fundraiser for the maintenance of the Westmoreland County section of the Great Allegheny Passage.
 

The event will start at the Arthur H. King Access Area of the Youghiogheny River Trail in West Newton. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used by trail volunteers to maintain, preserve and enhance the Westmoreland County section of the Great Allegheny Passage.
 

Pre-registrations for this event must be received by APRIL 12th, 2018 to ensure receipt of a free event T-Shirt.
Event entry forms may be picked up at the Regional Trail Corporation office in West Newton, from bulletin boards along the trail, from the many supporting businesses in the region, and the WYTC website: www.bikewytc.org.
Prices are as follows:
5K/10K Run- $20: Fun Walk- $15, Children age 10 and under- $10
Race day registration will be 5K/10K- $25, Fun Walk-$20

  

Medals will be awarded to overall male and female runners in the 5K and 10K Run, and to the top three male and female age group participants of those events. Medals will also be awarded to all Run and Walk participants age 10 and under. In addition, there will be medals for the oldest and youngest participants of the 2 Mile Fun Walk.
Each participant will receive tickets to redeem for two slices of Fox's Pizza after the race!


2018- Sunday June 3 Trail Appreciation Day 11-3

  

Stop by the Visitor’s Center in West Newton for free hot dogs and refreshments and get to know your trail neighbors. Find out what the West Newton Station has to offer you and meet the volunteers who make this resource possible for all GAP visitors.

2018-09-03 Twenty-Fifth Annual Labor Day Poker Run for individuals and families (Trail Head)

This event is sponsored and supported by various area merchants. This event is NOT A RACE! Participants walk or bike ride at their own pace, to checkpoints throughout the course where they pick up a playing card. At the end of the event, each poker hand is tallied and the person with the best hand in each category receives a prize. 


Categories include: 4 Mile Walk, 12 Mile Ride, 20 Mile Ride.


Everyone who pre-registers by a deadline for the Poker Run receives a free T-Shirt.

  

 

2018 October 20 Tentative Fall Beer Fest

This fundraiser for the WYTC to help support trail maintenance.  There are a limited number of tickets available being sold at the West Newton Visitor Center.  Tickets must be bought before the event as we are not allowed to sell tickets at the event.  We are partnering with Bloom Brew for this event. 

      

Last year was the first Beer Fest and 2018 promises to be just as enjoyable. Sample different beers from Bloom Brew, bid on Gift Baskets, participate in a 50/50 raffle, buy a ticket for the Bike Raffle, purchase food from Miss Meatball’s Food Truck.

Work begins on the gravel parking lot at The Station in West Newton. Looking forward to more paved parking spaces for WYTC members and guests of the GAP.
